TinyRPG (LOWREZJAM Version)

A simple RPG roguelike for the LOWREZJAM 2024. You get a random party of 2 heroes (from a possible 4) with the quest to slay the Lich in the catacombs. Each hero has their own unique abilities, as do the enemies. Make sure to be quick, because lingering for too long in the catacombs can be deadly.

HOW TO PLAY:

• All actions are done with the mouse.
• Left-click a unit to select it or an object to interact with it.
  
• Right-click deselects the selected unit.
  
• Hover over a unit to see its brief stats (top-left) or, if a unit is selected, the outcome of its action towards that unit (bottom-right).
• While hovering or having a unit selected, press and hold the mouse wheel to see its full details.
• With a friendly unit selected, left-click a unit to do an action:
  • Clicking an enemy will Attack.
  • Clicking another ally will Support.
  • Clicking the selected unit will Selfcast.
• Press M to mute/unmute sounds.
• Press R to quick restart.
• You lose if both of your party members are defeated in the same battle. Otherwise, any lost ones will respawn at the start of the next battle, but at level 1 and without any items.

The game's balance is probably not be the best, but I hope you still enjoy it! Feel free to leave any feedback.

By the way, this game is made in Game Maker Studio, not Pico8. I do however find the Pico8 palette very interesting for low-resolution sprites, so I decided to use it.

Also no Web version as of now, the HTML export for Game Maker causes the game to crash.
